Volunteering
The Leicestershire and Rutland Probation
Area regularly appeals for adult volunteers to act as mentors to men and women
who are currently on a Community Order.
Can you tick the boxes?
- good communication skills
- a non-judgmental approach/open mind
- reliability
- patience
- flexibility
Volunteers must be
18 years and over, and be prepared to give a minimum of two hours a week
towards mentoring their assigned client. The Probation Area runs a short
training course - and provides on-going advice and support to all members of
its voluntary mentoring team. Expenses are provided.
Working as
a volunteer can help when looking for new career opportunities. Because of the
nature of our work, we take up references and do Criminal Record Bureau and
child protection checks.
