Welcome

What is Probation?    What does Probation do?

This website presents up-to-date information on the Leicestershire and Rutland Probation Trust, which will answer these questions - and provide the answers to many more.

We were one of the first Probation Areas to be granted Trust status, which is in recognition of our consistently high performance and our innovative approach to creating new partnership opportunities.

LRPT recently received the national Beacon Award for Reducing Re-offending, which was in recognition of a joint programme of work with five of the Local Authorities. The Probation Trust successfully achieved the Investors in People Award for the third time on 31st March 2009.

The Probation Service’s primary aims are to protect the public by supervising offenders in the community - and to reduce re-offending by working with men and women on supervision to enable them to maintain productive and lawful lifestyles. Each year we supervise around 5,000 cases.

We also have a designated team who link directly with victims of crime to keep them fully informed of the criminal justice process.

We want you to email us with your thoughts and concerns about your community. There are opportunities to register your views here . We welcome your suggestions and questions.

We have translated text in the following languages to ensure our site is more accessible.
